​Many institutions offer scholarships for new and returning students in undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate studies.


To qualify, you must to meet certain criteria (each institution and award will have their own). Universities, colleges, companies, banks, governments (government loans and grants are discussed here), and non-profit organizations offer this type of support for students. 


Awards may require:

  • Student transcripts / report cards
  • Letters of recommendation (from teachers or community leaders you know)
  • Writing essays / answering application questions
  • Proof of financial need (you may need to show your / your family's tax return and declare your / your family assets)
  • Proof of citizenship / residency.
